Back To School Information

Schedule Changes:

Schedule changes can only be made for the following reasons:
1.       Missing a core class (English, math, science, or social studies)
2.       Student has a hole in their schedule (a class is missing)
3.       Student has credit for class
4.       Missing a class needed for graduation (seniors only)

Students will not be permitted to change elective classes. Staffing assignments and the master schedule are based on the courses that students selected in the spring.  Students were given multiple opportunities in the spring to change elective courses.

If your senior student is missing a class needed for graduation, please contact the counselor immediately.

Occasionally students’ schedules may be changed to balance classes or when a teacher’s schedule changes unexpectedly.

Student Dress Code

The KISD Discipline Plan and Student Code of Conduct contains a detailed list of the District Dress Code that will be enforced at Mayde Creek High School. This can be reviewed on page vii found at http://www.katyisd.org/dept/legal/Documents/Discipline%20Management%20Plan.pdf. We want to bring attention to a few specific items.
Hats – Hats, caps, bandanas, or other non-religious head covers will not be permitted
Shorts/Skirts – Shorts and skirts must come to mid-thigh. As a general rule, this is approximately five inches above the knee. In most cases, the popular running shorts (referred to as “Nike Shorts”) will not meet the length requirements.
Shirts – Shirts must not be low-cut and must cover the midriff.
Pants – Pants must be worn at the waist and not “baggy” or “sag”. Pants made of form-fitting materials (yoga pants, running tights, leggings, etc) must have an outer layer that comes to at least the thigh.
IDs
Students will receive an ID in Homeroom on Monday. If there are any problems with the ID or a student does not receive an ID in their homeroom, students should go to the library to obtain a new ID.  Students are expected to have their ID’s with them at all times. Students will use their IDs at tardy stations to obtain a tardy slip to class, to sign in at offices such as the clinic, counselor’s office and assistant principal’s office. It is especially important to have an ID during lunches so that cashiers can process lunch purchases as efficiently as possible.  Additionally, lost IDs can be replaced through their AP office for a $3 fee.  If a student forgets their ID they will need a temporary ID for the day.  Temporary ID’s can be picked up in any AP office for FREE between 7:05 and 7:20 each day.  After 7:20, temporary ID’s are $1.  A list is kept of students requesting temporary ID’s daily.  Students who habitually request a temporary ID will be ordered a permanent ID for the price of $3.
Lockers
Lockers will be issued by request only. Students can find a locker request form in their AP office. Students will be issued a locker through their AP office.

Buses
Parents and students are strongly encouraged to check bus assignments by going to http://busroutes.katyisd.org/eduweb/webquery.  It is important for students to know their bus number before dismissal so they do not miss the bus. Buses leave promptly each afternoon.

Student Parking
Students who have already purchased their campus parking permit for this school year will park in their assigned spaces beginning, Monday, August 22nd. Students may not park on campus unless they have purchased a campus parking permit. Parking permits will continue to be sold in the Senior Office during regular business hours.

Vehicles parked on campus without permission will be booted; the driver will be charged a $25 boot removal fee. Parking information can be obtained from the Senior office.
